Christmas Shopping Deputy Locates Wanted Felon

Shortly before 4 P.M. Detective Sergeant Don Meyer was off for the day doing some Christmas shopping at the Lake City Mall. As he waked the mall interior, he saw someone he had never met, but that he quickly recognized, a wanted subject, Terrance Davis, 29. Sergeant Meyer recognized Davis from a wanted bulletin that the FBI had send out Thursday morning alerting the Sheriff’s Office to be on the lookout for Davis because he was wanted for murder in Las Vegas.

Sheriff Recognizes Members for Outstanding Performance

Sheriff Mark Hunter presented four agency members with awards due to their outstanding achievements. Sergeant Howard Bulthuis, Detective Chris Parker, Detective Marcella Mayo and Analyst Yvette Tyler were given the awards for 2016 cases where they preformed their duties in a manner that brought great credit on them and the agency.

Deputy Saves Baby That Fell Into Pool

A Columbia County Sheriff’s Office Deputy saved a child, using CPR, who had fallen in a pool and was unresponsive Thursday, October 27th. The 22 month old baby was flown to a hospital in Gainesville where she is in stable condition.

Detectives End Five County Burglary Spree

Columbia County Sheriff’s Office Detectives arrested a Lake City man who has been on a multi county burglary spree. Over a two month period, 14 burglaries were committed by the suspect who used the same method and burglary tools. Five of the 14 burglaries were outside of Columbia County in Suwannee, Baker, Lafayette, and Union Counties.
