The preliminary examination by the medical examiner revealed no trauma to the body and cause of death has not been determined. The medical examiner is awaiting toxicology.
The decedent has been identified by fingerprints as Veronica Witcher 43, of Lake City. The cause of death is still undetermined pending examination by the medical examiner in Jacksonville Florida.
On Saturday, February 7 at 1:09 pm, Columbia County Sheriff's Office deputies were dispatched to 187 NW Joland Way to investigate a possible homicide.
