On Thursday, July 16, in a ceremony attended by family, friends and Sheriff’s Office personnel, Sheriff Mark Hunter swore in a new CCSO member. Mr. Roger Moody took the oath of office for civilian employees.

On Thursday, July 9, Columbia County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested two men following a dramatic vehicle pursuit which began in north Columbia County on I75.
The body found by K9 search teams Friday July 3 has been positively identified as the missing Baker County woman, Ms. Sharon Jackson. The cause of death has not yet been determined and the case is still active and ongoing.
On Friday, July 3, at approximately 11:30 am, K9 teams from First Response Search Team out of Tallahassee found human remains while searching for a missing person.
