On Tuesday May 4, 2021, deputies arrested two individuals in connection with a burglary in the area of NW Streamside Ct.
Shortly after 7:00am, deputies received a report of a burglary that had just occurred. Units arrived quickly and noticed a vehicle which was abandoned on the shoulder of the roadway. The tag was registered to a different vehicle. Deputies secured the vehicle and canvassed the area. Within minutes, they discovered a male and female walking down the roadway. Upon detaining the individuals, it was learned that the female had an active warrant for dealing in stolen property. The male had property on his person which belonged to the victim. The suspects had also been captured by home surveillance. As a result, deputies were able to confirm the identity of the suspects.
The suspects were identified as Kirk Lanham (35) and Lauryn Jones (32), both of Columbia County. An inventory of their vehicle revealed suspected methamphetamine also. Both suspects were arrested and transported to the Columbia County Detention Facility without incident.
In a statement, Sheriff Mark Hunter said, “This incident resulted in the successful apprehension of the suspects due to cooperation between our citizens and law enforcement. The quick response by our deputies and their thorough investigation will help to prevent others from becoming victims of these suspects.”
