On Friday, July 27 in a ceremony attended by family, friends and Sheriff’s Office personnel, Sheriff Mark Hunter promoted Detective Shayne Foote to the rank of Corporal and awarded Life Saving medals to Deputy Olivia Roberts, Deputy Lemny Sanchez and Sergeant Keith Spradley.
Corporal Foote has been with CCSO since 2011 and will be assigned to the Patrol Division where he will be a shift supervisor.
Deputy Roberts along with Sergeant Spradley and Deputy Sanchez were awarded the CCSO Life Saving Medal for their actions in preserving the life of a badly injured motorcyclist after a crash.
On May 28, Deputy Roberts was on patrol and witnessed a horrific traffic crash involving a motorcycle and SUV. The operator of the motorcycle, Jeffrey Ankosko, 31 of Lake City was severely injured and was losing a great deal of blood from a nearly severed foot.
As Deputy Roberts began first aid, Sergeant Spradley and Deputy Sanchez arrived to assist. The three placed a tourniquet on Jeffrey’s leg and helped prepare him for transport by ambulance to an area hospital.
Later that day, the trauma surgeon who treated Jeffrey called a CCSO Patrol supervisor and credited the use and proper placement of the tourniquet with saving Jeffery’s life.
“I’m so happy that you are able to be here” Sheriff Mark Hunter said to Jeffery who was in attendance. “I’m proud of these Deputies and I’m glad they were able to help you during that terrible time.”
