Late Tuesday night, June 21, Columbia County Sheriff’s Office Detectives began investigating a shooting in the 300 block of SW Tommy Lites St. in unincorporated Columbia County.
After the Combined Communication Center received a 911 call at 10:10 pm, deputies were sent to a call of a person shot. The initial information was that the adult victim heard a knock at the door and when he answered it, a subject shot him with a handgun. The victim stated after the shooting, the suspect, a white male adult left in an unknown vehicle.
Deputies and Detectives arrived and briefly spoke to the victim before he was flown to an area hospital for treatment. He is still hospitalized and listed in stable condition.
At this time investigators believe this is a targeted attack and not a random act of violence.
This is an active and on-going investigation.
