On Friday, May 20, Columbia County Sheriff’s Office Detectives are investigating a shooting in the 100 block of Tranquil Glen in unincorporated Columbia County. From the preliminary investigation, investigators believe that the weapon used is possibly a bb or pellet gun.
The Columbia County Combined Communication Center received a 911 call reporting the shooting at 2:57 pm. The caller indicated that her father had been shot in the wrist. As Deputies and Detectives arrived and began their investigation, the victim, Stevie Clinton, 67 was taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Detectives are canvasing the neighborhood and talking with a person of interest.
This is an active and on-going investigation.
Detectives arrested a neighbor of shooting victim late Friday. Ross David Emory,26 was arrested for aggravated battery for shooting Stevie Clinton, 67 with a pellet rifle as Clinton was mowing his grass. Detectives recovered the weapon after serving a search warrant of Emory’s home late Friday night.
Emory was booked in the Columbia County Detention Facility with no bond.
