On Wednesday, July 9, the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office served a search warrant at a residence, 3839 E US Hwy 90 lot 1 in Lake City. The warrant was a result of an investigation into internet child pornography.
The investigation was initiated after information was received that a local man had downloaded child pornography onto his personal computers. Sheriff’s Office detectives and deputies with assistance from Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) agents and personnel from their Florida Computer Crime Center also known as FC3 served the search warrant.
Arrested was Matthew Christian Duffer, 29 on charges of 12 counts of Transmission of Pornography by Electronic Device or Equipment and 12 counts of Possession of Child Pornography with a total bond of $120,000.
The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office is a member of the North Florida Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. ICAC is an organization of law enforcement officers and agencies from across the nation, who investigate and prevents the exploitation of children through the internet. The Sheriff’s Office places a high priority on the safety of our children.
