On Saturday, February 25, 2012, Columbia County Sheriff’s Office deputies volunteered to work with Habitat for Humanity in the construction of a new home in Columbia County. Several community groups and churches were involved in the project, which began with a vacant lot. By days end, a new home had been erected. The new homeowners were on site from beginning to end and worked side by side with the volunteers. The employees of the Colubia County Sheriff’s Office are not only members of the community, they are also quick to open their hearts to help others in need.
