A registered sex offender has been arrested on new charges of soliciting a minor.
On February 14, 2024 detectives began an investigation after receiving a report that Edward Gullion (34) was using an electronic device to solicit a minor for sex. While looking into Gullion’s background, it was learned that he was already a registered sex offender. The investigation also revealed that Gullion was in violation of other statutes for failing to register a social media account and change of address.
Detectives learned that Gullion since relocated to Gainesville, Fl. They obtained an arrest warrant for Gullion and coordinated serving it at his place of employment in Gainesville. Detectives worked with the Gainesville Police Department and arrested Gullion today when he arrived for work.
“I am extremely proud of how quickly and aggressively our detectives pursued this case,” said Sheriff Mark Hunter. “The cooperation between agencies was coordinated and executed well to prevent this person from re-offending and victimizing someone else.”
Gullion was booked into the Alachua County Jail and will be extradited back to Columbia County to face these charges.
