Sheriff Hunter and Sgt. Parker at Awards Presentation
On Thursday June 16, 2022, the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office officially received its reaccreditation designation.
The designation was awarded by the Commission for Law Enforcement Accreditation at a conference held in Orlando, Florida. Sheriff Mark Hunter and Accreditation Manager, Sergeant Chris Parker, were in attendance to accept the award.
In order to achieve and maintain its accreditation status, the agency must prove that they are adhering to the best standards and practices set forth by the commission. The formal process takes place with independent assessors conducting a thorough, on-site inspection at the sheriff’s office. To maintain accreditation, the agency must work throughout each year to ensure compliance with accreditation standards.
In a statement, Sheriff Hunter said, “I am so proud of our employees who work hard for this achievement. I know the level of professionalism they serve with each day, and this demonstrates that to our community. We look forward to maintaining this accreditation status while also working to achieve additional accreditation designations for other areas within our office in the future!”
Accreditation status is valid for the next three years. At that time, the agency will undergo the reaccreditation assessment process again to maintain its accreditation designation.
