Two juveniles were arrested at a Columbia High School football game last Friday after they were found to be in possession of firearms.
On Friday September 3, 2021, School Resource Deputies who were working security at the Columbia High School football game were notified of a juvenile who was possibly armed. The juvenile was located near one of the entrances of the stadium by a deputy who recognized him as being a former student at his assigned school. That juvenile was in the company of another juvenile, and they were both detained for further investigation.
Kendrick Allen (14) and Rae’Quan Wilson (15) were found to be in possession of loaded firearms. Allen had two handguns concealed in his waistband. One of those guns was confirmed to be stolen from Marion County. Wilson was also found to have a loaded pistol in his waistband also. Allen is a student at Pathways Academy and Wilson is a student at Lake City Middle School.
In a statement, Sheriff Mark Hunter said, “Given the recent increase in gun violence in the city, I am glad these weapons are off the streets. I am proud of our deputies for handling this situation quickly before anyone could be hurt.”
Sheriff’s Office and school officials met to discuss this incident. As a result of this meeting, school officials will be implementing new security protocols for all athletic events and will be releasing further details on those protocols soon.
Both Allen and Wilson were arrested and charged with multiple felonies. They were transported to the Columbia County Detention Facility without incident.
