On Thursday, June 21, a Deputy patrolling a neighborhood in unincorporated Columbia County uncovers a substantial drug operation.
The Deputy was driving through the Wise Estate subdivision, when he noticed a car starting to drive away from a home. The car suddenly stopped and the driver tried to conceal himself by reclining his seat back. The deputy turned around and approached the vehicle.
A strong smell of marijuana was evident at the car and the driver, A’Niaus Ray, 26 of Lake City was detained. In the subsequent search of the car 14 pounds of marijuana was discovered and Ray was arrested.
The multi-jurisdictional drug task force responded and assumed the investigation. A search warrant was obtained for the home and Detectives located 8 crack cookies weighing 119 grams, 62 grams of A-PVP, 3 guns with one being reported stolen in Columbia County, several pills, and approximately $4000.00.
Arrested at the home was Madeline Thornton, 19. Thornton was booked into the Columbia County Detention Facility on one count of drug possession, $5000 bond, drug trafficking $250,000 bond, and possession of drug equipment $1000 bond. Ray was booked on possession of marijuana $20,000 bond and possession of drug equipment $1000 bond.
