On Wednesday, April 26, Columbia County Sheriff’s Office Detectives began a death investigation in unincorporated Columbia County.
Just after 4:30 am, CCSO Deputies responded to the 1900 block of SW Nautilus Road due to a report of an unresponsive female lying on the side of the roadway. When Deputies arrived, they discovered the female was deceased. Detectives were called out and assumed the investigation. The cause of death has not been determined and foul play has not been ruled out.
The woman has been identified as being Diane Orfino, 52 and her next of kin has been notified. She has been taken to Jacksonville Medical Examiner’s Office.
During the course of their investigation, CCSO detectives learned that Diane Orfino was last seen walking away from Lake City Medical Center earlier that morning, around 1:00 am. When she left Lake City Medical Center, she was wearing a pink tank top and dark colored pants, with white socks and no shoes.
CCSO Detectives are asking for the public’s help. Detectives believe that Ms. Orfino may have received a ride from the Medical Center to Nautilus Road. We would like for this person to contact us. If anyone saw Ms. Orfino walking from the Lake City Medical Center, or the area of Highway 90 and I75, please contact CCSO Detectives at 386-758-1095.
