On Monday, June 27, Sheriff Mark Hunter was given a $600 check from Elks Lodge #893 to help with expenses of two summer youth camps hosted by the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office and Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches.
The camps aptly named “Harmony in the Streets” provide two weeks of fun and education for over 120 local students. Each week long camp, one in Lake City and one in Fort White, focuses on helping the students learn about and interact with Deputies and other first responders.
Sheriff Hunter said “I’m grateful for the support from our community as we work together to help these young folks grow into responsible adults”. “Organizations such as the Elks and the numerous businesses that partner with us, enables us to deliver an excellent camp for these youth”.
