On Tuesday, July 28, at approximately 2 pm, Deputies responded to a stabbing at 349 NE Clara Glen in the unincorporated county area.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the Victim pulled in her driveway and was in the process of going inside the home when her former boyfriend Maurice Campbell, 36 ran out of the nearby woods and stabbed her multiple times. Campbell then stole the victim’s car and fled the area.
The Victim was given first aid by Deputies and was able to give them the identity of her attacker. The Victim sustained serious injuries and was flown to a Gainesville Hospital, where her condition is currently unknown.
The Deputies spotted the stolen car on US 441 and attempted to conduct a high risk traffic stop, however the vehicle fled north into Hamilton County. The vehicle continued onto I75 where it lost control was involved in a single car rollover crash at mile Marker 452. Campbell was flown from the scene to a local hospital due to serious injuries sustained in the crash.
This is an active and on-going investigation.
