On Tuesday, December 23, the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office assisted the U. S. Marshal Service in the arrest of a wanted fugitive out of New York.
Ardell Holmes, 33, wanted for parole violation and in connection to a homicide was reported to have ties to Columbia County and CCSO detectives had issued a BOLO (be on the lookout) for him yesterday. CCSO Detective Martin Lee, who is assigned to the North Florida Fugitive Task Force, developed information that Holmes was at 658 NE Bailey Street in Lake City and relayed it to the on duty patrol deputies.
CCSO deputies surrounded the home and the marshals made contact with Holmes by phone. After a short negotiation, Holmes gave up and was taken into custody without incident.
Holmes was transported by CCSO patrol to the Columbia County Detention Facility where he was booked on the New York warrant with no bond.
