On Wednesday, November 5, the Columbia County Multi-jurisdictional Drug Task Force served a search warrant at 309 NE Alpha Terrance resulting in the seizure of over 5 pounds of marijuana, a large amount of cash, and an illegal firearm.
The investigation began Tuesday night at 10 pm when two patrol deputies came upon a car fire at the residence. The deputies saw Travis Carter, 37 trying to extinguish the fire and stopped to assist. As the deputies approached with their fire extinguisher, they could smell marijuana coming from the residence. Detectives from the Drug Task Force were notified and responded.
When the Task Force Detectives arrived, they too smelled the marijuana and obtained a search warrant for the home. When the search warrant was served, more than 5 pounds of marijuana, a large amount of currency, and an illegal firearm were located and seized.
Travis Carter was arrested and booked into the Columbia County Detention Facility on charges of Possession of a Firearm by a Felon $30,000 bond, Possession of Marijuana with the Intent to Sell Manufacture or Deliver $30,000 bond, Possession of Marijuana over 20 grams $30,000 bond, Possession of drug equipment $1000 bond and Resisting Officer without Violence $2000 bond.
The Drug Task force is comprised of law enforcement personnel from Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, Lake City Police Department, Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).
