On Friday, October 24, Columbia County Sheriff’s Office School Resource Deputies visited the 5th grade students at Five Points Elementary School to teach about the dangers of drugs.
The program teaches the students to “Respect yourself” and “Say No to Drugs”. Sergeant Tim Ball, Corporal Clint Dicks and Deputy Jimmy Finnell spoke to the students and shared videos illustrating the dangers of not only illegal drugs but also misuse of prescription medication.
This is an on-going program which will be taught in all elementary schools in order to educate and prepare the students as they move into middle school.
The 30 minute program ends with a personal message from Sheriff Mark Hunter as he thanks the students for their attention and encourages them to make good decisions.
