In the early morning hours, Friday, October 3, Columbia County Sheriff’s Office deputies foiled a burglar’s escape plan after a break in at Green’s Marine, 1613 E Duval St.
At 4:20 AM, a citizen called 911 and reported seeing a male climb the fence into Green’s Marine and tamper with the security camera at the business. Deputies were on scene in a matter of minutes and set a perimeter around the business.
Deputies notified the business owner, who responded and allowed access so the deputies could check the inside of the business. There was evidence that someone had been inside and as the search advanced, Cody Croft, 27 was located on the roof hiding from the deputies.
Croft was arrested and booked into the Columbia County Detention Facility on charges of Burglary $50,000 bond, Criminal Mischief $5000 bond, Possession of Burglary Tools $5000 bond, Grand Theft $5000 bond, Tampering with Evidence $5000 bond and Trespassing $1000 bond.
