On Friday, September 19, Florida Gateway College Student Body donated a host of new stuffed toys to the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office as part of a community service project.
The service project was to collect new stuffed toys and donate them to the Sheriff’s Office so that the deputies and detectives could give them to children that have been affected by criminal activity or family disturbances.
Billy Greer, the Student Body President stated that the project will be on-going and as the toys are depleted they will collect more. He credited one student with the lion’s share. He shared that Victoria Andrews provided the bulk of the toys. Ms. Andrews is a student of the Criminal Justice program at the College majoring in Forensic Science.
Sheriff Mark Hunter commented, “We are happy to partner with Florida Gateway College and their students to help the children of our community.”
