On Thursday, January 23rd, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), working in conjunction with the Columbia County Multi-Jurisdictional Task Force, served several arrest and search warrants following an extensive 14 month long investigation. The Columbia County Multi-Jurisdictional Task Force is comprised of law enforcement personnel from Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, Lake City Police Department, Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), State Attorney’s Office and ATF.
This investigation targeted a very violent armed narcotics trafficking group operating throughout Columbia County and Lake City. The Multi-Jurisdictional Task Force and ATF obtained arrest and search warrants for several individuals and locations. During the investigation, numerous controlled purchases of illegal firearms and narcotics were conducted. Today’s warrants resulted in the seizure of large quantities of narcotics, US currency, firearm, and the arrest of seventeen violent offenders. This is an on-going investigation with more arrests expected.
This lengthy and complex operation is a fine example of the cooperation shared between the local law enforcement agencies and our state and federal partners. This investigation is part of ATF’s “Front Line” strategy for safer communities.
