On Friday, January 10th, 2014, at 8:21 a.m., Columbia County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to a stabbing at 262 SW Santos Terrace, lot #52 in Lake City.
When deputies arrived, it was discovered that 19 year old Jorge Josh Arata had received a knife wound to his upper body. It was determined that 18 year old Jailine Marie Cruz Gonalez, Jorge’s girlfriend was present at their residence when the injury occurred. Statements were obtained at the scene about the nature of the injury and how it occurred. The case is still being investigated and no arrests have been made at this time.
Jorge was transported by Lifeguard Ambulance to UF Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville, where he is listed in critical condition.
A detective and the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit have been called to the scene as the investigation continues.
