On 10/30/2013, at approximately 10:30 pm, Columbia County Sheriff’s Deputies spotted a vehicle that had been recently reported stolen. Deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle, but the vehicle fled and a vehicle pursuit ensued. The driver of the vehicle, later identified as Demyus Alphonzo Robinson swerved in front of deputies to prevent their attempts to pull along side his vehicle.The suspect jumped from the moving vehicle in the area of Cedar Park apartments and fled on foot. Robinson forced his way into a residence occupied by a woman and her children. Robinson then leaped from a bedroom window and ran into a wooded area where deputies lost sight of him.
Columbia County Sheriff’s Office Corporal Matt Grinstead arrived on scene with K9 Perry and tracked Robinson into a wooded area where he was located and apprended. Robinson sustained minor injuries and was transported to Shand’s at Lake Shore where he was treated and released. Robinson was then transported to the Columbia County Detention Facility for Booking.
Demyus Robinson is 15 years of age, 6 foot tall and approximately 180 lbs. Robinson has an extensive criminal history including armed robbery, Department of Juvenile Justice responded to CCDF and transport Robinson to the Juvenile detention facility in Gainesville.
