On Friday, June 7, 2013, a Live Oak man was arrested by Columbia County Sheriff’s Office detectives following an investigation into credit card fraud and theft.
On June 4, 2013, the victim reported to Sheriff’s deputies that her credit card had been stolen, along with cash, from her purse. Detective Andrea Useche was assigned to investigate the case and discovered that the stolen credit card was used in Lake City.
The suspect, David Wester, allegedly used the stolen credit card to purchase gas at a Lake City convenience store and also used it at Wal Mart to purchase items. Detective Useche reviewed surveillance video from both stores and was able to obtain a description of the suspect and a description of his vehicle.
On June 7, 2013, deputies located a disabled vehicle on U.S. 441 North. The vehicle and the suspect matched the description of the suspect Detective Useche was looking for in reference to the theft.
