On Friday, April 26, 2013, Columbia County Sheriff’s Office deputies seized a
large amount of marijuana.
At approximately 5:30 pm, deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on East
Hwy 90. Deputies observed two unrestrained children in the back seat. Corporal
Matt Grinstead was present with this K-9 partner Zombie. K-9 Zombie alerted to
the presence of illegal narcotics in the trunk area of the car. A subsequent
search of the car resulted in the discovery of seven (7) pounds of marijuana.
Byrda Raper was arrested without incident and family members arrived to take custody
of the children. Raper was transported to the Columbia County Detention
Facility and booked on felony charges.
