The Columbia County Board of County Commissioners will hold a special called meeting at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, June 9, at the Columbia County Combined Communications Center, 263 NW Lake City Avenue. The meeting will be part of a briefing on conditions accompanying the Tropical Storm Debby flooding. The County Commission will also consider a recommendation to extend the Local State of Emergency for an additional week.
FEMA officials are working to finalize arrangements to open a Disaster Recovery Center in Lake City. It is expected that will happen no later than Monday. Notifications will go out to all area media and all other stakeholders as soon as information is received as to location and hours of operation.
The Richardson Middle School remains open as a shelter for area residents displaced by the flooding caused by Tropical Storm Debby.
