On Friday, June 29, 2012, two men were arrested for allegedly robbing a woman. At approximately 8:20 p.m., Columbia County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the intersection of N.E. Fryer St. and N.E. Angus Way.
The victim told deputies that she was robbed by two males as she sat in a vehicle. One suspect was armed with a knife and the other was armed with a handgun. The victim stated that the suspects grabbed money out of her purse and fled on foot from the area. Columbia County Sheriff’s deputies located one suspect near the scene and took him into custody without incident. CCSO deputies set up a perimeter in the area while searching for the second suspect. A K-9 unit from the Florida Wildlife Conservation Commission assisted CCSO deputies in the search. The K-9 unit was able to track the second suspect through a field. Sgt Keith Heston of the Lake City Police Department was able to locate the suspect in a field and hold him until CCSO deputies could take him into custody.
Deputies were able to locate a knife in the area of the robbery. Deputies have not been able to locate the firearm allegedly used in the robbery but a thorough search will be conducted in attempts to locate it. No injuries were reported during this incident. Both suspects were transported to the Columbia County Detention Facility and booked on robbery charges.
