On May 10, 2012, a Columbia County woman reported the theft of several pieces of jewelry from her residence. The victim suspected that the person who stole the jewelry knew that she had it and that the suspect was probably in her home for legitimate reasons on the day of the theft.
Detective Glenn Wyche was assigned to investigate the theft. Detective Wyche checked with local jewelry stores and pawn shops to determine if anyone had sold or attempted to sell the stolen jewelry. Detective Wyche was able to locate the stolen jewelry on May 11, 2012 at a local Coin and Gold store. The proprietor still had the jewelry in his possession and advised Detective Wyche that he had paid the suspect $500.00 for the jewelry. The jewelry was recovered and returned to the owner.
Detective Wyche made contact with the suspect at her home. The suspect was confronted with the findings and she admitted to Detective Wyche that she had stolen and sold the jewelry. Detective Wyche arrested the suspect without incident. She was booked into the Columbia County Detention Facility.
