On Sunday, May 6, 2012, a Georgia man was arrested for Robbery. Deputies responded to Sunoco located at 3816 U.S. 90 West to investigate a report of a robbery.
At approximately 9:10 p.m., the suspect entered the Sunoco and locked the front door of the business. The suspect produced a pocket knife and began to stab several food items and a cooler inside the store. The witnesses stated that the suspect appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. The suspect was speaking incoherently. The suspect retrieved two drinks from the cooler and exited the store.
The clerk called 911 to report the robbery. A BOLO for the suspect was issued. Officers from the Lake City Police Department located the suspect at a Shell station on 90 West. The suspect attempted to flee on foot from the LCPD officer. The officer deployed an electronic control device and the suspect was taken into custody. Columbia County Sheriff’s Office Corporal Todd Lussier assumed custody of the suspect and transported him to the Columbia County Detention Facility without incident.
