On Monday, September 19, 2011, a 13 year old boy was mauled by a dog in the front yard of his home. The incident occurred at approximately 5:15 p.m. at a residence off N.W. Robson Ct.
The victim was transported to Shands of Gainesville for treatment of injuries to his head, chest and arms. A witness at the scene told Deputies that she heard the child screaming and found him in the front yard of the home with injuries. Columbia County Sheriff’s Office deputies began an investigation in coordination with Animal Control. Deputies found traces of white fur on the victim’s clothing. Neighbors told deputies that a white Boxer has been seen in the area. Deputies and Animal Control conducted a thorough search of the area but were unable to locate any stray dogs. The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office and Animal Control is continuing the investigation and attempting to locate the dog that inflicted the injuries to the child.
