On Thursday, October 28, 2010, a custodian at Ft. White High School was arrested by Columbia County Sheriff’s Deputies.
Lonnie Albert Hudson was arrested following an investigation by CCSO School Resource Deputies Sgt Tim Ball and Deputy David Milligan. It was determined that Mr. Hudson had stolen two laptop computers, a welding machine and various amounts of cash from FWHS. The thefts have occurred over an extended period of time. Mr. Hudson is also accused of using his School Board issued fuel card to put gasoline in his personal truck.
Sgt Tim Ball was able to recover the computers and welder from Mr. Hudson’s home. The Columbia County School Board will be conducting audits of the fuel receipts to determine the amount of fuel allegedly stolen by Mr. Hudson. Hudson has been employed as a custodian for approximately 18 months. He was suspended from his employment by the School Board and his employment status is pending the closure of this investigation.
Deputies estimate the value of the recovered property to be in excess of $1,500.00. The amount of cash stolen from classrooms has yet to be finalized. The recovered property was returned to Ft. White High School. Hudson was arrested without incident and booked into the Columbia County Detention Facility.
