The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office is slated to destroy nearly 400 pounds of drugs and drug paraphernalia. As part of an annual drug destruction program, representatives from the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office and State Attorney’s Office met at CCSO on October 29, 2010 to conduct a final inventory of the items to be destroyed. The joint inventory ensures that the appropriate items are indentified for destruction.
1331 individual pieces of evidence were inventoried for destruction. The items include cocaine, marijuana, methamphetamine and other dangerous drugs. Drug paraphernalia items; eg, smoking devices, are also included in the destruction. The 1331 pieces of evidence are from 484 individual criminal cases that have been closed. The Sheriff’s Office will transport the boxes of evidence to an approved facility for destruction this coming week.
