On Wednesday, August 4, 2010, the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office arrested a suspect in a home invasion robbery/shooting that occurred on August 2, 2010.
Detective Todd Lussier was able to obtain an arrest warrant for Willie C. Ford, Jr. Detective Lussier worked closely with the U.S. Marshals Service and the Florida Dept of Law Enforcement to locate Mr. Ford in Tallahassee, FL. Mr. Ford was taken into custody without incident.
Willie Ford is alleged to have forced his way into a home at 479 SW Pine Ridge Ct, Lake City, FL, along with another man. Mr. Ford is alleged to have shot a visitor at the home. The victim is recovering from his injuries.
Mr. Ford is being held at the Leon County Sheriff’s Office without bond. Mr. Ford will be extradited to Columbia County in the coming days. Mr. Ford was released from the Florida Dept of Corrections in 2009 after serving a 9 year prison term for robbery.
Detectives with the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office will continue this investigation to determine if Mr. Ford is a suspect in other crimes committed in Columbia County
