On Sunday, July 19, 2010, Columbia County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested an 86 year old Lake City man for attempting to lure a child into his car.
Deputies were called to assist the Lake City Police Dept on a traffic stop on U.S. 90 East near the Mercy Medical Center at approximately 9:00 p.m. A citizen had followed the vehicle from N.E. Vegas Terrace in Columbia County. Deputies determined that the suspect was driving slowly on Vegas Terrace and approached a juvenile female. The suspect allegedly asked the girl if there were any girls around that needed a date. The young girl got scared and ran to her house. Two concerned citizens observed the incident and followed the suspect’s vehicle until law enforcement could intervene.
A citizen advised Sheriffs Deputies that the suspect had been seen in the area of Richardson Gym for the past few months attempting to get young girls into his truck. The suspect is also accused of exposing himself to several women in the area.
Deputy Jason Dubose arrested Milford William Palmer without incident for his actions on Vegas Terrace.
Mr. Palmer was booked into the Columbia County Detention Facility and was given a bond of $11,000.00 at first appearance Monday morning.
