A home invasion early Saturday morning resulted in two Georgia men being arrested by Deputies with the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office.
The residents of a home located on Buffalo Ct., Ft.White, awoke to two men standing in their bedroom at approximately 1230 a.m. The men were dressed in all black clothing. A disturbance occured inside the home and one of the residents was able to hide in a closet and call 911. The suspects fled the home without taking anything of value.
CCSO patrol deputies quickly responded to the scene. While enroute to the area, Lt. Pete Spurlock observed the suspect vehicle driving north on C.R. 131. Lt. Spurlock saw that a bag was tossed from the vehicle as he approached. Lt. Spurlock stopped and retrieved the bag and discovered a pellet type pistol inside. Lt. Spurlock was able to regain sight of the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop with assistance from back up units. The two suspects, still wearing the all black clothing and gloves, were taken into custody without incident. Deputy Ray Metrick and additional units maintained the crime scene at the home and conducted their investigation.
There were no injuries reported as a result of this incident. The swift and cooridnated response by the Deputy Sheriff’s of CCSO brought this case to a successful closure. The Deputies that are assigned to the Ft. White area are intimately familiar with the main and back roads of their assigned zones. The Deputies were able to position themselves accordingly to block the avenues of escape. The two suspects were from Georgia and their quick capture thwarted their attempts to flee Florida and return to the Valdosta area.
