Detectives with the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office have charged a Columbia County resident with conspiracy to commit arson.
On December 30, 2009, a concerned citizen contacted the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office advising Deputies that she was asked by Gerald Allan Wisener to assist him in setting fire to a home. The witness currently rents the home owned by Mr. Wisener. Detectives followed up with the investigation on Friday, December 31, 2009. Detectives determined that Mr. Wisener was offering the witness a cash payment and property in Crystal River, FL as an incentive to burn down the home for the insurance money.
Mr. Wisener was arrested at the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office without incident and was booked into the Columbia County Detention Facility without bond.
This case is another example of the positive working relationship between Columbia County Sheriffs Office deputies and the citizens of Columbia County.
