The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the shooting death of a 19 year old Lake City man.
Leonard Montrez Walker, 155 E. Fronie St, Lake City, FL was shot at a party located on Chesterfied Circle at approximately 11:30 p.m Wednesday evening. The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office and Columbia County EMS were called to the residence following the shooting. Friends of the victim decided to drive the victim to a local hospital. On the way to the hospital, they flagged down the responding CCSO and EMS units at CR 242 and SR 47. Mr. Walker was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Columbia County Sheriff’s Office Deputies and Detectives are actively conducting a homicide investigation.
A person of interest in this case is currently in custody on charges of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
An autopsy on Mr. Walker will be performed today at the Medical Examiner’s Office in Jacksonville, FL where forensic evidence will be collected and examined and an exact cause of death determined.
