An armed robbery occurred during the early morning hours on Wednesday, June 10, 2009.
At approximately 1210 in the morning, two men wearing ski masks and gloves entered the S & S convenience store located at I-75 and S.R. 47 (4046 SW S.R. 47, Lake City, FL 32024). One suspect was armed with a shotgun and the other a handgun. The men ordered the clerks in the store to give them the money from the register. Both men then fled the store with an undetermined amount of money. Nobody was injured during the robbery.
It is believed that the men fled in a dark colored, possibly convertible Ford Mustang. The vehicle was last seen traveling west bound on C.R. 242 at a high rate of speed.
The suspects are described as black males, both being 5’11 to 6’0 feet tall. Both were dressed in dark colored sweatshirts, black ski masks and black gloves.
Columbia County Sheriff’s Office Detectives are working closely with law enforcement agencies in the surrounding counties. This robbery is similar to two that occurred in Columbia County a few weeks ago. There have been other robberies in Alachua and Marion Counties that are also similar in nature.
