A Columbia County man was arrested Saturday and charged with criminal mischief for maliciously causing damage to Columbia Grain located on Brown Rd.
As originally reported, an unidentified person used a front end loader to cause nearly $500,000.00 in damages to the company. The Columbia Columbia Sheriff’s Office received information from members of the community, leading to the identification of Gene P. Tomlinson, as the person responsible for the crime. Detectives immediately acted upon the information and made contact with Mr. Tomlinson. Detectives Lussier and Wyche had evidence that linked him to the crime. 22 year old Tomlinson, 483 S.W. Precision Loop, Lake City, FL, was booked into the Columbia County Jail on felony charges of Criminal Mischief, Burglary and Grand Theft. Mr. Tomlinson is currently being held without bond.
