On Friday, July 3, at approximately 11:30 am, K9 teams from First Response Search Team out of Tallahassee found human remains while searching for a missing person.

The deceased person, who has not yet been identified, was found in the wooded area southwest of SR 47 and Business Point Dr.

This area is near where a missing woman, Sharon Jackson’s vehicle was found abandoned on June 22.

The search that located the remains was part of a coordinated search effort between the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office and First Response K9 teams.

This is an active and on-going investigation.
