*PLEASE NOTE: (SWORN POSITIONS ONLY) There is a requirement to reside within a 45-mile radius of the Columbia County Courthouse within 6 months of employment. Please be sure to adhere to this if seeking employment with our agency.

The Sheriff’s letter at the beginning of the application has a checklist of items that must be included with your application. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Please ensure to include a copy of your birth certificate, high school diploma (or equivalent), Social Security card, driver’s license, and military discharge forms (if applicable).

If you are applying for a law enforcement or corrections position, please include a copy of your certificate and state exam scores.

WHY WORK AT THE COLUMBIA COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE?

The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office offers a wide variety of career opportunities for individuals with an interest in law enforcement. Job positions fall under either “sworn” or “staff” classifications. Sworn positions require current Florida Law Enforcement or Corrections certification and include entry positions such as Deputy Sheriff and Correction Officer.

Staff positions do not require law enforcement certification and include entry positions such as Clerical and Secretarial as well as several other specialized categories.
