Shooting Sends One to Hospital and Lands Other in Jail
On Saturday, October 24 the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office investigated an early morning shooting which left one person in the hospital with a gunshot wound and the suspect behind bars.

On Friday, October 23 in a ceremony attended by family, friends and Sheriff’s Office personnel, Sheriff Mark Hunter promoted Sergeant J.T. Williams to the Lieutenant.
On Wednesday, October 21, in a ceremony attended by family, friends and Sheriff’s Office personnel, Sheriff Mark Hunter swore in two new CCSO members. Mr. Aaron Rose was sworn in as a Detention Deputy and Mr. Thomas Norris was sworn in as a Deputy Sheriff.
On Tuesday, October 20, a DOC K9 team from Baker Correctional Institution located a missing 96 year old Fort White man during a search effort initiated by the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office.
On Friday, October 9 in a ceremony attended by family, friends and Sheriff’s Office personnel, Sheriff Mark Hunter promoted SSgt. Robert Dees to the rank of Lieutenant and Lt. Katina Dicks to Captain.
