(Deputy Ceckanowicz “Chewy”)
We are pleased to announce that one of our School Resource Deputies received special recognition during the opening ceremony of the Florida Association of School Resource Officers (FASRO) conference this morning.
Deputy Scott Ceckanowicz, better known as, “Chewy,” was recognized by the association as “School Resource Officer of the Year.” The award was presented on behalf of the Attorney General’s Office. FASRO hosts an annual conference with agencies from across the state attending. This year’s conference is being held in Orlando. Each year, the association presents awards for, “Agency of the Year” and “School Resource Officer of the Year.”
Sheriff Mark Hunter said, “I am proud of Scott and am excited for him to receive this special recognition. He embodies the professionalism, passion for students, and commitment to school safety that our School Resource Unit always strives for. We have an excellent group of school resource deputies and he is a great representation of the caliber of deputies we have serving in our schools.”
In addition to being surprised by the award, Deputy “Chewy,” who serves at Melrose Elementary, was also surprised to have several faculty members from his school in attendance to support and congratulate him. Please join us in congratulating Deputy Ceckanowicz on this well-deserved award!
