United States Attorney, Roger Handberg, praised members of the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, along with other agencies, for their assistance in the successful prosecution of a pharmacy robber.
Jesse Rance Moore (46) of Bell, Florida was convicted in federal court on November 6, 2023 for robbing four different area pharmacies. The first robbery occurred at North Florida Pharmacy in Fort White on August 2, 2021. In November of that year, Moore robbed a pharmacy in Chiefland, Florida. In December of 2021, Moore committed another robbery at the Baya West Pharmacy in Lake City before committing his final robbery again at North Florida Pharmacy in Fort White in January of 2022.
Handberg attributed the arrest and conviction of Moore to the cooperation between members of the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office and other local, state, and federal partners. Handberg also recognized a citizen who was able to provide law enforcement with a vehicle description and tag number of Moore’s vehicle following the last robbery.
“I, too, am proud of the cooperation and hard work that went into solving this case, as well as the citizen who helped us identify the getaway vehicle,” said Sheriff Mark Hunter. “This suspect spread fear within our community and he will no longer be able to because of the tremendous teamwork that took place.”
Moore is expected to be sentenced early next year and faces a minimum sentence of 21 years up to life in prison.
