On Sunday June 25, 2023 shortly after 1:00pm, deputies responded to the Chevron gas station located at U.S.441N. and I-10 for a report of shooting. Upon arrival, deputies located a subject who had been shot lying outside near the front door of the business. Deputies and EMS personnel rendered aid, but the subject was pronounced dead at the scene.
Kendrick Jerry (47) of Lake City was identified as the person who died from a single gunshot wound. Mr. Jerry and another male were involved in altercation in the store parking lot. Detectives are continuing to work on gathering information and evidence about that altercation. All parties involved in the incident have been identified by Detectives and investigation is continuing.
“It is tragic to lose any member of our community,” Sheriff Mark Hunter said in a statement. “We will work diligently to verify all facts in this case and provide answers to the Jerry family.”
