Detectives are continuing to investigate a death involving a body that was found in the area of NE Gum Swamp Road West of NE Range Road on yesterday’s date. At approximately 3:00pm yesterday, deputies were dispatched to the area for a report of a deceased individual located along the side of a forest road. Upon arrival, deputies confirmed that there was a deceased individual and foul play was suspected.
Closer examination of the body has led detectives to believe the victim is possibly a light-skinned male. Due to the condition of the body, an age cannot be determined at this time. The body was transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Jacksonville where we will learn more information about the victim. This incident is being investigated as a homicide. The scene was preserved overnight for forensic processing to resume today. The scene is expected to be released later today.
