(Sheriff Hunter with K9 Deputy Chaos and community leaders)
On Wednesday August 3, 2022, Sheriff Hunter hosted a ceremony to introduce some of our community business leaders to one of our newest deputies. We are now pleased to introduce the rest of our community to K9 Deputy Chaos.
In June of this year, one of our K9 deputies, Drago, passed away from a heat-related illness. We received an outpouring of support from many people during that time. One of the hardships compounded by the loss of K9 Drago was the financial burden of filling the vacant position he left.
Several members of the community reached out and asked if they could help the sheriff’s office with the purchase of a new K9. Through their contributions, the sheriff’s office was able to secure enough funding for the purchase of K9 Chaos and the necessary equipment needed for him.
“We live in such a giving community,” said Sheriff Mark Hunter in a statement. “While we still miss Drago, knowing we have such love and support from our community leaders helps to lessen the hurt we feel. The generosity of our community allows us to continue operating our K9 team at full capacity much more quickly than we would have been able to without their contributions.”
We would like to extend our appreciation to those whose donations made this possible and welcome K9 Deputy Chaos to the CCSO family!
