On Tuesday February 15, 2022 the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office assisted the ATF and DEA with a large operation which was conducted in our community. This operation comes in response to recent gun violence in our community.
The operation was conducted following several months of investigation and cooperation between our citizens and our local and federal law enforcement partners. The execution of search and arrest warrants resulted in the arrest of seven (7) individuals whose charges relate to various weapons and narcotics offenses. Specific details of the operation are not available at this time as these cases remain active.
In a statement, Sheriff Mark Hunter said, “We have heard and share the concerns from many in our community about violent crime and appreciate our citizens cooperating with us in these investigations. We will continue to exhaust every available resource to keep our community safe. Our partnership with LCPD and federal agencies is extremely helpful in these cases and we appreciate their willingness to work with us to keep our community safe.”
