On Thursday January 27, 2022, a retirement ceremony was held for Sergeant Melvin Sheppard. The ceremony was attended by family, friends, and Sgt. Sheppard’s co-workers. Sgt. Sheppard began his career with CCSO in 1995 and now retires after 27 years of service at the Columbia County Detention Facility. He retires with the rank of Lieutenant.
Sheriff Hunter stated, “It is a bitter sweet time for us here at the sheriff’s office. We are extremely proud of Sgt. Sheppard and all of his accomplishments with CCSO and hate to lose the experience he has. We wish him the best in his retirement and new adventures.”
